In Service To My Lord

Dear reader

Welcome to day 6 of #NaPoWriMo. Yesterday was not a good day for poetry for me, but I really hope I make up for that today. Our prompt springs from the form known as the aubade. These are morning poems, about dawn and daybreak.  Although other 'rules' apply to the aubade, I am choosing to possibly stray away a bit. I am proud of this piece, and I am sure it has more soul than the one from yesterday. Please enjoy.

With the dawn of every morn
I give thanks for
the night before.

For while sleep still clings
to my half open eyes,
a new day wraps me
in it's timeless embrace.

Sunbeams caress me,
soft and warm
like a lover's touch.

This creation of morning
is perfectly designed,
to give hope
in times of sorrow.

With gratitude I take
this gift
of morning
of love
of life.

With joy I awaken
to a promise
of another day
in service to
my Lord.
