Slipping through the Cracks

Welcome to Day 11 of OctPoWriMo! Dear reader, today's prompt brought me back to the darkness. It wasn't meant to, but that is the way my mind works. Slipping through the cracks is the title of the prompt, and it just happened that it also became the name of the poem. The form I wrote is called a Cascade. It does not have a rhyme scheme or meter, but its structure is a/b/c, d/e/A, f/g/B, h/i/C. So, as you may deduce, the first line of stanza one becomes the last line of stanza two. The second line of stanza one becomes the last line of stanza three. and the third line of stanza one becomes the last line of the 4th verse. You can see the cascade effect. Anyways, enough of me talking. Here is one of the poems I wrote for this prompt. Please enjoy.

I was slipping through the cracks
spiralling out of control
into a hell born of madness

hitting rock bottom hurt,
but it allowed my eyes to see that
I was slipping through the cracks

Imperfections and weaknesses
of both I have many. Giving in meant I was
spiralling out of control.

With help from above, I began again.
I learned how to fight, to keep from falling
into a hell born of madness.

  1. When things spiral out of control, a helping hand is all one needs. Nicely done.
