Make of it what you will

Today dear reader, we wrote a letter. We all have unsent letters inside of us, and our goal today was to write that letter and pull our poem out of it. This was an easy write for me. It took less than 20 minutes to find the theme and write the words. Make of it what you will.

Bullied, broken;
coerced by phantom pressure
which existed only in my head.
Words of wisdom come to you
from this man who sees
through eyes of retrospection.
Wishing you could hear
what I had to learn.
Pining to send strength
through time’s closed door.
How different things might be
should that gateway to yesteryear
open.
Better? Worse?
We will never know.
Mayhaps for our benefit
our experience was what it is.
You grew into me;
what I am today
is because of what
you endured.
Make of it what you will,
a half-century of time
lies behind a portal.
Make of it what you will,
you survived what you imagined,
you got through what was real.
Make of it what you will.
Make of it what you will.
