Fading Reality

I try to recall
the last time
I saw you
but the memory is faint

It used to be so easy
to imagine your face,
to envision your body
Yes, it was so clear

Something has changed
not in you, but in me
Your features fail
Your shape disappears

Driven by fantasy
I recreate you
into what I think
you should be

I know it's not real
A trick of the mind
My tears well up
You're simply not there

I long to see you again
If only to fuel
What can only be
A dream.

  1. Very stylish piece. Trying to fade out the image of someone to make them what YOU think they SHOULD be is certainly one translation.
